06.25.08...AND THERE YOU HAVE IT...THE EULOGY
Damien asked me to write something poetic given my natural lean towards the dramatic. I've stared at the screen for a good ten minutes and can't seem to think of anything fitting to write. No words to explain this outcome, the sum of all these parts, the empty that now occupies a room on the 12th floor of the music building. All that's left to speak is sad and the only sound left to hear is the thump of my heavy heart bleeding on automatic pilot inside a chest heavy with sighs.

Life has happened at lightning speed and in some cases in debilitating fashion all around us and closely inside our being.

The Outside has come to it's end. After 7 years, Monday and Thursday nights find 4 new hooligans completely free of prior engagements (of The Outside sort). The scoreboard has darkened after a slew of shows, 4 self produced cds, a plethora of songs and a room full of memories. We lived our dream in the shape of a team made of dedicated dreamers. We compromised nothing (sometimes to a fault---fuck yeah). We loved, fought, cried, broke up, got back together, flew planes, fell off stages, did shots of bourbon, got back together, met each others families, sweated, got escorted off stages, celebrated our personal joys of life and suffered some of it's unfair tragedies, laughed, fought, cried, peed (a lot), drank our weights in alcohol combined, laughed, loved and most importantly created music. We made songs that we enjoyed. Songs that we still listen to. Songs that some of you listen to. It was a journey- the journey we desired to take. The Outside was the life I dreamed of living.

Thank you to everyone who came to shows, drank with us, laughed with us, loved with us, listened to us and inspired us.

We did record a final EP with 4 or 5 of our last songs. Soon there will be a way to download those...you know so you can sit around listening to them and be dramatic like I have been for the past few weeks (in the same fashion as the past few sentences).

Someone recently asked me how my twenties were. Without hesitation I replied 'they were excellent.' The Outside was a huge part of that response. We love you guys and appreciate everyone who was along with us for the ride.

ol' dirty tree and the boys

10.03.07...WOOZYFLY.COM...BROTHER PAUL 10.3
Last night we did a live audio/video taping for this new ultracoolmegahugereallygreat site called woozyfly.com. It launches next week and is promising to be a great thing for indy bands like ourselves. I was pleasantly surprised talking to them about all the tools and ideas they're putting into it. We got some great live footage and also got to lay down the 4 new songs in the mix. The 4th 'It's very frantic brother paul' is being hatched tonight at our Ace Of Clubs showcase in NYC. We're really proud of it. Actually, we're so proud, we're starting the set with it so don't be late! -d

07.13.07...MODERN DRUMMER REVIEW
If you happen to be at a newsstand, check out the reviews section of the August Modern Drummer. The article is 'From The Underground'. Something Urgent got a nice little paragraph right at the end. I'd give you the page number but I lost my copy! Damn. -d

05.04.07...BACK IN THE SADDLE
My stars! Where have you been?! Where have we been?! Well you look marvelous. Sorry for the brief hiatus but we've been busy little buggars over here. We're very much looking forward to the spring/summer. We've got a bunch of new shows and pictures up so make sure to check them out! See everyone soon. - T O

12.04.06...THANKS
The CD release show this past weekend was INSAAAAANE. Seriously, you guys are the shit. We appreciate each and everyone of you who came out and gave 'Something Urgent' the warm welcome it deserved. Highlights: signing of 10% by the audience, Chuck from Devola playing damien's floor toms for the bridge in Easy As Disease, Audience participation with keys and tambourines in Something Urgent, Devola's new song with the official new line-up, The Primms set...we could go on because there were so many great moments. Of course, 'Something Urgent' is now available at all shows. It should be up on CDBABY and iTUNES very soon so we'll keep you posted. Once again, thank you. -love d,t,b,w

'SOMETHING URGENT' CD RELEASE
12.02.06 AT SIN-E
Well, this is it. Finally after almost 2.5 years we'll have some more music for you guys to cram on your ipods. We just picked up the master last week and we have to say that it's fucking great. Yeah, we're allowed to say that! We like it OK??!?!? It's big, it's heavy, it's moody and it's by far the best stuff we've ever done. We hope you guys dig it as much as we do. Devola's playing too so who knows what the hell to expect.

10.09.06...IT HAS A NAME
So we've named the new CD. Almost done, we swear....

09.26.06...CA IN 2 DAYS. DISCMAKERS IMWS FINALS!
2 days people, 2 days! Hope you're ready. In case you forgot, 9/28, 8PM @ ON THE ROX. Right upstairs from the Roxy..........In other news, we've been chosen by the editors of Billboard as one of 6 finalists (from 1300) in the Discmakers Independent Music World Series. The final show for the NE segment of this will be held at World Cafe Live in Philly. We're very psyched to be a part of this. World Cafe Live is an amazing venue so we hope to see all you peeps in Will's new hometown of Philly come out and give us your support!..........We've also booked a few other shows around the area for October so make sure to check the LIVE page for info on those. A big one is next Thursday (10/5) at Sin-e in NYC. It's our first time playing there and it's a part of a new Art/Music party put on by Gala NYC. The last one at Lit Lounge was the shit so make sure all you fools get your purdy little asses there! See everyone soon!

09.01.06...GOING TO CALIFORNIA
So it's confirmed. We officially have a show Thursday, Sept 28th at THE ROXY (upstairs) on sunset blvd in Ben's glorious home state of California. Well, we're playing the upstairs called On The Rox (get it) but nonetheless, it's still attached to the Roxy damnit! Saying we're psyched doesn't even begin to express how excited we are so we'll leave it at that. We'll need everyone's support on this one so we'd love to see all of our west coast peeps if you're around. - Love, t d b w.

08.23.06...VENUE CHANGE, CD MIXING, CT THIS FRIDAY
Due to "complications" the venue for our show on 8/31 has been changed to THE LION'S DEN. This is good for a couple reasons. 1: The Lion's Den is an 18+ venue so some of you underagers will finally be able to come out and party with us! 2: The Lion's Den is a great place to play. Big stage, good sound, nice folks. So please take note of this and mark your calendars. ALSO, it's my birthday, and it's a big one, so alcohol donations are strongly encouraged. Side note: we're hitting it with Devola and Lourds at Cousin Larry's this friday in Danbury, CT. IT WILL RULE. Side note #2: New CD is being mixed on monday and tuesday. Fuck yes. Over and out. [d]

07.28.06...FACELIFT
As you can see we've done some much needed graphic plastic surgery to the website. Of course we still haven't posted new pics in a bit but WE'RE GETTING TO IT! Some of the new digs include: an updated lyric section, desktop backgrounds, better gas mileage, flashy new colors, improved sarcasm, subliminal your messages mom, press photos and MUCH MUCH MORE. So have a look around, send us a message, find us on myspace, whatever. Regarding the Lincoln quote, it's real. Would we make something like that up? If you missed it, hit BACK on your browser. For other interesting quotes we found go to our myspace page. Side note: Mix date for the new CD is at the end of august. Get ready. Side note II:Tree found the shithead who stole her bike...actually she found the shithead who bought her bike from the other shithead. [d]

07.17.06...STROLLING ALONG
We realize you guys haven't seen much of us this summer but it's for good reason. Since last we spoke we've laid down some great sounding vocal and guitar tracks at Studio G in brooklyn for the next CD (which is shaping up to be a doooozie). Started writing some new tunes. Tree has acquired a new mic (which will surely be unveiled this friday at Lucky 13 Saloon in brooklyn). I've gotten a coupe of haircuts and Will is playing engineer and laying his bass tracks down as we speak. There are a few shows coming up in the area so make sure to get your little asses out to those. Still no news on the location of Tree's bike or car stereo. They are missed...fucker (just in case you happen to be reading this). Guess that's all for now, over and out. [d]

06.20.06...ARE YOU F&@#ING SERIOUS?!
summertime and the livings easy..... What's up from your favorite rehearsal space hopping, beer drinking, triple state rock band. First thanks to everyone who made the trek to Maxwell's a couple weeks back. Special thanks to William, Bjorn and William's pal for manning the cameras that night. Also big thanks to Q and Hamilton St. Cafe for letting us play a lazy Sunday afternoon all ages show, Jackson was especially grateful to be able to once again participate. We will be hitting the grind this Friday night at Ace of Clubs. One last thing, if you see some punk-ass riding my GT Pro Style BMX (cream with Bestwick wheels) please punch them in the face and hold my bike. Thanks- love tree.

05.22.06...MAXWELL'S 5/31, HAVE YOU SEEN MY STEREO?!
Quick update. We're back at the music building in NYC after a brief stint in Hoboken. As lovely as the space was (sike), we are not amphibious nor is our gear equipped with duck feathers and oars so the trek back across the Hudson is a welcomed one. I'll leave it at that. Those who know know. Those who don't, it's not worth an explanation. Let's see here... shows in Philly and Harrison capped off an otherwise fucked up week for me (thank you asshole for stealing my stereo and jumper cables after destroying my favorite expensive window. I hope you die a slow and painful death at the hands of Mickey Rourke). What else...... We are playing Maxwell's in Hoboken on the 31 of May (8:45PM) with Electric Eel Shock- I hear my buddy Neel will be serving the drinks in the back, hopefully as a member of the Kickball Champions (playoffs this Sunday). The summer is revving up to be a good one and we hope to get this new recording laid, dressed, fed and out before sunrise... otherwise very soon. Thank you for reading these words and if you see anyone running around with a canister of bungee cords, my stereo, spare tire arm and jumper cables, hold 'em 'til i get there. Love an ever so slightly bitter Tree.

03.20.06...WE MISS YOU...
Hello again!!!! So we've been off the radar for a breif stint bit, but it isn't because there's nothing happening. 1. Recording of the new EP is officially underway. Drum tracks were done in Philly (thanks to Thi, her parents and their neighbors) and we're gearing up to start the rest within the next week. We had to purchase some new gear and re-tube Benny's amp so it'll sound extra special. 2. We've recently acquired a new rehearsal space in Jersey so we're excited about that. New room, new dynamic, new songs. 3. In a couple weeks we'll be heading down to Cincy and Marietta again for a couple shows. Friday night, April 7 at The Southgate House for the 6th Annual Chicks Rockfest and Saturday with Devola at The Body Shop in Marietta. PLEASE NOTE: our set at Southgate House is late friday night so it's actually Sat morning(12:30). Southgate House is an awesome venue and we'll be performing on the HUGE ballroom stage. We were on it last year and it was great...although this year, we're refraining from letting people use Ben's guitar to sing happy b-day. Oh, and to make it even better our friends Lourds are making the trip and their on right before us. Parrrrrrrtaaaaaay. As for The Body Shop with Devola, by now I think all of you know what to expect when we get together. For those who don't...get off your asses and get with the program!!! See everyone soon : )

01.05.06...GOODBYE '05
Happy new year felines, fellas and fuckers. 2005 ended with explosions in the sky! The Fishbone in Marietta Oh was packed to the gill with friends, family and fluoride rinse cups of neon colored sugar shots. Yo Devola and Zelazowa----> rock out on your tour and thanks for having us out to end the year!

Looking to the future, we are finally beginning the pre-production on a new Ep. It's brewing with lots of emotion and intensity. I personally can't fucking wait to get it rolling. We will definitely be including the new songs 'Blame You I do', 'Easy As Disease', 'Rites of Spring' as well as a couple aged set staples such as 'Something Urgent' and 'Kamikaze's Last Stand.' Looking back over the songs, i might suggest we title the album 'everything that keeps them together is falling apart' (mm)....just kidding. But i ain't gonna lie, the songs are quite jarring to the ticker - for me anyhow. Documenting collapse and rebirth is assumed to be messy and dramatic- especially for someone as fronted anti-climatic but interanally torn as this grrrl.

Well folks that about wraps it up. You guys and gals made this a kinetic year for us and allowed us to indulge in one of life's richest extravagances----> doing something you love whenever you want however you want why the fuck ever you want. We all feel very fortunate and blessed to be able to ride this train and share it with you. All the good things in 2006 to us all! Word- your biggest short fan, tree.

12.02.05...THANKS
We've said it before and we'll say it again, WSOU fucking rules. If you live in NY/NJ and can get 89.5FM, tune in NOW!!! Thanks to Q, Eggy and the rest of the crew for having us wednesday and for being so hospitable. They played the whole "Alpha' EP, and we talked about all sorts of good stuff...of course there was some rambling too...something about 100 dollar bill and a diner...email Tree for details. Getting caught up in all the hoopla, we forgot to thank all the fans who come out to the shows, so please accept our sincere apology. Without you guys we wouldn't have anything, so THANKS from the bottom of our hearts.

11.16.05...iTUNES, Snitch and FIERCE VOCALS..Arrrrgh!
Holy crap there's lots of stuff going on, new songs, new shows, new press. First off...WE'RE ON iTUNES!!!!! Ok so maybe it's not that a big deal but we think it's pretty cool. Here's the link to check it out:

Here's a couple tidbits from the Midpoint Music Festival we ran across while we were googling ourselves (yeah, so I googled us, you wanna fight about it?!?). Thanks to the fine folks at Cincinnati.com for the kind words, we hope to see you all very soon:

BLITZKRIEG BAND: The Outside, a New York group that enthralled its Cincinnati-area audience at Chicks RockFest in April, came back to town to deliver a ferocious set at Alchemize. Conversations in the buzzing room hushed as the band launched a guitar assault and a massive attack of percussion, led by the relentless charge of frontwoman Tree's fierce vocals.
FIERCEST VOCALS: The Outside's vocalist, Tree, raged on the mic with a raw power that even outroared the New York rock band's forceful percussion. (Cincinnati.com)

This past saturday's show at the Harrison American Legion was great, thanks to all who came out and supported...I don't think we've ever had such an attentive crowd before. The award for shortest set ever goes to Catch Fire in Paris. They may have only played 3 songs, but they ruled it. And once again, thanks to the American Legion for having their S@!t together and putting on a good show.

This saturday we'll be returning to our collective home between the Hudson and East river to play a show at SNITCH, 10:45 pm, with our friends Pillow Theory. It's been almost 2 months since our last NYC show so we're psyched to be on home turf for a little bit. Admission is free, you just have to say you're there to see us.

That's it for now, see everyone saturday at SNITCH. - damien, ben, tree and will

10.03.05...'Zach and the Continental, Jersey City Rocks, Sam Ash, On the road again...kinda'
Every now and then in this industry you meet people that are sincere and that understand what you're all about. One of those people we felt we should mention is Zach, one of the soundmen at the Continental. Not only is he a stand up guy and our favorite soundman but he actually remembered friday that Tree likes no effects on her voice...in fact, he finished her sentence for her: "...no reverb or delay right..." So this bud's for you Zach, thanks for giving a shit. Needless to say friday night at the Continental was FUCKING AWESOME!

Next piece of business, Jersey CIty. Put quite simply, Jersey City is the shit. We had a blast playing at the Jersey City Music & Arts Festival. We met a lot of new people, saw some great art and somehow sold the rest of our CD's (more on the way). Thanks to mike everyone for having us and of course thanks to all the people who came to these last 2 shows, they were great.

In other news, we're happy to say that we're now being sponsored by Sam Ash. Thanks to Billy, Karin, Joe, Hayden and all the guys at Sam Ash (2600 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11234) who made this possible. We'll be seeing you a lot!!

And finally, we're back to the coolest state in the country this weekend...that's right...OHIO!!!! Cincy friday night and Columbus saturday night...check the tour page for details. See everyone soon. -d

9.29.05...'ALLERGIES, COOKIES and DEVOLA'
Whoo. The past weekend was awesome. Despite the rising cost of gasoline and waiting for AAA in the "safest" part of Cincinnati (love you MIKE) it went off without a hitch, which actually would have come in handy had we been closer to DEVOLA on Sunday----> (i hear they are accepting donations for engines). Cincinatti on thursday was off the hook. Why does that town have to be 11 fucking hours away!? Murphy's law i suppose. Thanks to Jem, Midpoint Music Festival and Alchemize for the chance to rock the midwest. Also a shout to my little sister and her handsome husband for coming up yet again to watch us tear shit up. Friday night was probably my favorite of the 3 day stretch. Mike and the guys at 'The Body Shop' in Marietta were so kind to let us play their parlor. The sound was quite amazing and we got to pull out one of our new songs 'rites of spring'. It was also cool to play with DEVOLA in front of their friends, some of who drove all the way from NYC. That's hot. While i missed out on the debauchery of the hot tub, we were rightfully represented by Damien who assured us we fucked up by not jumping in. Saturday we kicked it in Marietta with Elizabeth, Chuck, Mike and Joe along with The Body Shop crew before heading out to Bridgeport WV to play with DEVOLA again at Headliners.

In conclusion, we are so happy to have spent the weekend with our pals DEVOLA (heard of them? thedevolavirus.com) and we feel very fortunate that they hooked us up with 2 opportunites to pound out some nonsense in different area codes. Also to be noted; the drought is over, no one had too many allergies and i was the only cookie on the trip. We have some fun shows coming up and look forward to being able to babble on about not much again in the near future. Keep on rocking in the illusion of a free world, your biggest fan---> lil' baby treesus

P.S. Photos from the weekend coming next week.

9.21.05...Ohio and WV here we come!!!! Check out the new art section.
Just a quick hello to everyone before we go on our little road trip this weekend to Ohio and West Virginia. We'll be in CIncy thursday night, Marietta OH friday and Bridgeport WV on saturday. Friday and Saturday will be with our compadres DEVOLA. Check the TOUR page for details. So if you're in any of those towns we'll see you real soon. Gonna be one hell of a weekend so don't miss it! Also, I finally got off my ass and updated the ART link on our site so make sure to check out some of the fliers from past shows. Cheers. -d

8.30.05...You are the alpha at CD BABY.com
Thanks to those who braved the late long subway ride a couple weeks ago to come to the BMT show in Brooklyn. It was great to play with Lourds and Suicide City again and we look forward to the next time we get to share the stage. Also thanks to the Pennyroyals, Rimjaw and all the other bands for making it a fun night. And of course, thanks to TNS over at Metalevolution.net for the great review.

It's gonna be off the hook so don't miss it if you're around there. We have a lot of other shows coming up so make sure to check the Shows page for dates, times and all that good stuff. That's all for now...over and out. -d

p.s. If you haven't already, check out the new photos (Sandbar show) from our friend Daniel Wharton...thanks Daniel!!!

8.01.05...BROOKLYN MUSIC TERMINAL!! (formerly Lamour)...
First off, for those who came out to Wild Spirits last saturday and Sandbar this past thursday, THANK YOU!! Your energy and support was amazing, easily making those shows 2 of the best we've played. Thanks also to Jesus Kinevil, Pistola, But Not Forgotten and "Q" from 89.5 WSOU. We made a lot of new friends these past couple shows and we hope to see your faces again very soon. If you didn't sign the mailing list make sure you do because it's our only way to keep in touch! Now on to some great news...FRIDAY AUGUST 19th IT'S GOING DOWN!! That's right, well be playing taking over the newly opened Brooklyn Music Terminal, formerly Lamour...with our friends Suicide City and Lourds. 7.20.05...Request The Outside on New York's 89.5 WSOU!!...
Our lovely people over at My Rockstar Killed Yours have gotten our CD "You are the alpha...gracias por nada" in the hands of New York/New Jersey's one and only 89.5 WSOU. If you're in or around the NY/NJ area, show your support and call the request line (973) 761-9768 or email them at wsou@shu.edu and request The Outside. It would GREATLY appreciated.

7.15.05...Cincinnati AGAIN, Sandbar...
Well, it looks like we'll be heading down to the Ohio/Kentucky area for a third time this year. We're happy to say that we just landed a spot in the 2005 Midpoint Music Festival Sept 21-24, in Cincinnati. Of course this means clocking another 22 hours of road time but there are 2 reasons we don't mind 1) The people in Cincinnati rock! We made lots of friends the last time we were there and we hope we get to see you all. And 2) our new road trip vehicle recently aqcuired by Mr. Luttrell fucking rules!!! It's silver so the tentative name is Tiffany...people from the south like to name their trucks, go figure.

On another note, thanks to the guys over at XFORM Studios for the great interview last week. It should be airing soon so make sure to check their website for times.

>>> NEW SHOW ADDED: Thurs., July 28, 11:00pm at Sandbar in Jersey City, NJ. "Q" from 89.5 WSOU will be hosting and we'll finally be sharing the stage with our compadres Pistola. If you've never seen Pistola make sure to check them out, it's gonna be one hell of a night, this place is huge! Oh and don't forget about next Sat. the 23rd at Wild Spirits with Jesus Kinevil. Over and out. -d

6.30.05...Weren't we just here??
Well we're back from our bi-monthly KY show. We made a pit stop in Lemoyne to tune our guitars and pound on drums belonging to the fine folks in 'Aeva Disaster.' A couple truths emerged from the 12 hour drive to and fro- 1st- yes virginia you can play texas hold 'em in a moving truck. 2nd- Jackson will never get tired of watching Star Wars 3. And finally- Ben and I both have deep feelings for Kelly Clarkson. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Will and Damien do not share our infatuation.

The show in KY was very awesome. Picture if you will a hundred hot and sweating moms and dads carrying all the swim gear while dragging little tommy and suzy with fingers in their cute little ears into the oasis that was hurricane bay. While we weren't the best theme music for the water park we had a blast. Playing outside as 'The Outside' was quite appropriate. Thanks to 'Thirsty Melon' for letting us play. A personal highlight for me was the classic car show in the 'Frisches Big Boy' parking lot. Can i say monte carlo?

We have a lot of goodness happening right now so the news will keep coming. Thanks for reading these words and listening to any music. Special thanks to my mom and dad- it was a privilege for me to sing for you. Also to all the folks from who came- angela, rick, carol, jackson, alex - your 2 other friends and all my family. much love and appreciation. See ya at the show-tree

ps: Check out the INTERVIEW we did with TNS over at Metal Evolution.net....thanks Dustin!

5.31.05...Review from The Saint
WOW. The review of The Saint show from Metal Evolution.net is posted in our press section...it's a great one, so make sure to check it. There, you can also see the very nice review "You are the Alpha..." was given by Bob Donovan over at Northest In-Tune(we're in the music features section). It's pretty inspirational when we get feedback like this so we're psyched...the good vibes may spawned another new song in rehearsal last night. The band's taking a little time off from the New York scene to do a little promotion/marketing and all that good stuff but we'll be back in the next couple months so stay tuned. Of course if you're in Lemoyne, PA or Louisville, KY we'll be in your hood the weekend of June 24th so come out come out wherever you are! See our shows page for times and locations. Carry on. -d

p.s. 3 new CD's you must own: Devola's "Love and War", Pistola's "Hold For Bliss" and Suicide City's "Not My Year".

5.20.05...REVIEWS REVIEWS REVIEWS...
Our CD "You are the alpha...gracias por nada" has been getting some great reviews lately so be sure to check them on our press page. There will be another one coming very soon from the great people over at metalevolution.net, but the new site isn't quite ready yet. Tentative launch date is June first so stay tuned. Of course if anyone would like to submit a review of their own, just shoot us an email, we'd love to hear from you.

5.04.05...MYSPACE, NEW LYRICS, NEW PHOTOS, NEW SONG, SUICIDE CITY, SIX FLAGS...
The Saint, ahhhhhh, the Saint. What a kick ass night. What else can be said about a night that started with a packed 15 passenger van of our friends/fans and ended with many shots, new friends and great set by our compadres Suicide City. We'd like to thank all of our buds: Ron, Kirsten, Noah, Jen, Ben, Salome, Pat, Chris, Laura, Eric, Thi, Brian (shut the FUCK up next time you have to piss!) for investing 5 hours of their saturday to come down and hang out. Also, of course, thanks to Billy and Suicide City for having us, it was a blast. If you haven't checked them out...DO IT!

In other news: There's a new song in the set list "Gravity Never Buckles" so watch out for it at the next show...lyrics on the lyrics page. Also check out some of the photos from the Kentucky/Cincinnati trip (yes that's bird shit on the window, and the final count on the vespa parade was 125!). Thanks to all the photographers for the great shots, your links will be on our links page shorty. And last but not least...Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, June 25th!!!!

4.12.05...WKRP, iPod heaven and Will (the man with the van and the master plan). In 2 weeks...THE SAINT!!!
The Southgate House was by far the most beautiful place we've played. The spacious ballroom stage allowed no excuse for onstage spills- not that CBGBs stage is so small...anyhow. Thanks to Jem and all the folks at Chicks Rock Fest for allowing us to bombard a different zipcode. Hopefully we will get to play with some of the bands featured at the Festival- especially 'Paperboy Jack', 'Flutter Effect' and 'Adam Evil and the Outside Royalty'- what a great name. The ride down and back was soundtracked with 6 different ipods (thanks to Jen Pao and Thi for equalling the estrogen in the van). An array of sounds from Tomahawk to Catpower, My Chemical Romance to David Allen Coe, Mars Volta to The Game, Dr. Dre to Metallica, The Roots to Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse to Mr Bungle, 2Pac to Deftones were experienced by the lot of us from tiny back speakers in the west wing (the van was HUGE!!). Pringles, gummy bears, trail mix and 40's acted as IVs to energize for the 11 hour hike. Keep on the lookout for new photos from the trip.

I would personally like to thank Nicholas, Rebekah, Mike and Andrew for making the drive up- big props for the cooler of beer and the new shiny ring in my left ear. Timmy, a few more years and you can stick around. Jen and Thi----> there's an arrow for you for being so excellent. I will never lose my wallet again.-Tree

p.s. Just booked a show at The Saint in South Jersey with our friends Suicide City. This is a big one.

3.21.05...Peace, Love and Crappiness
first off... i'm a lover not a fighter. what a week! st. patrick's day at CBGB with Devola, The Shape and Eve's Fault was an awesome night and a bonding moment for Damien, Will, Ben and myself. thanks to the ladies and gents who came out (drunk and tired) after celebrating all day. hmm... it seems there was another show this week... for some reason i'm having trouble remembering... oh wait!!! yeah, i remember... well---> let's just say we probably won't be asked back to the club next to one of my favorite burrito joints and home to one of my new favorite bartenders. i will say this, sometimes when the Bass player has a bad feeling about the show before it starts, you should go with his gut feeling. especially when that bass player is named Will. sorry for the ruckus especially to Joe, Carol Jen and Josh who came all the way from Plattsburgh. Carol---> you rock. we'll be in NJ this week behaving ourselves and making friends with bar mgrs... long live the KY. Wildcats.

ps- i will be installing a payment plan to make good on my statement about paying all you fools back for the door---> my mouth writes checks my ass has trouble cashing. it might take a while. word.- love tree.

Also thanks to Elizabeth for the shots and Jay Sarne, master of the kick drum spike!! Sat. was my first time playing on a "mobile" drumset, It was interesting to say the least. -Damien

3.04.05...Don Hills rules...thank god for the Mars Volta
Once again, thanks to our devoted fans, friends, and followers wednesday nights show, also our first appearance at Don Hills, was a blast. We'll definitely be heading back in the near future. Much thanks to everyone who braved the bitter cold of the west village and came out to the show. And of course thanks to Devola and Steve Blush for having us. In recent news, we've be asked to play a rock festival at the Southgate House in Newport, KY on April 9th. Our slot is Saturday at 11pm in the main Ballroom...a nice big space that will surely give us plenty of room to go nuts and do our thing...we'll be trying to set up another show for the 8th somewhere along the way so stay tuned for more info on that. Also on the radar: Snitch (part II) and Crash Mansion...

Support new and inspiring music, go buy the new Mars Volta CD! And if you don't have the previous one, buy that too! Seriously, they're great.

2.04.05...Welcome to the new site!
So after a few encounters with the good ol' drawing board, some late late nights and a crash couse in HTML the new website is finally here and we're stoked (that's for you Ronnie). New features include: more photos, more links, more art (soon), more press, more mp3's and more video. Thanks to Ming and Joe for helping out with the coding and also for explaining what the hell a WYSIWYG is. Also thanks to our very own Will Luttrell for help with the mundane details that only he has the patience to figure out. We'll be updating the site more regularly now so stay tuned for more stuff. And of course if there are any problems with it please let us know.

1.29.05...Arlene's Groceries
wednesday night, cold, snow- not the perfect setting for a show yet somehow a group of awesome people made it out to see us debut our new song 'something urgent' in our return to Arlene Grocery. it was early and the stage was hot hot hot but it was an excellent night for us. we're definitely heading to the studio and surely will lay down both new songs in addition to a couple of other heartfelt attempts at sealing our immortality. i didn't fall and Damien wasn't called upon to retrieve anyone's drink from the stage----> all in all a success!

1.17.05...Snitch Rocks
Snitch was a blast. To all our friends and the regulars at Snitch who stuck around to see us, all we can say is Thank You! We'd also like to thank Bjorn, KP, Madeline, Michael and Ron for bringing out the cameras to film a couple songs (and another timely spill on stage by yours truly) for a future music video. Going on at 1am can be a bit of a gamble on a Tuesday night, but Snitch was packed. I think we made some new friends and hopefully we'll see you again. The highlight of the night for us was playing our new song - 'Just Visiting' which will surely be recorded in the very near future. Check the pictures (courtesy of Jen Pao) on our Photo page.

Thanks again to Billy and Karin Graziadei for setting up the show and also to Devola for making a late night to come out and see us. See ya at Arlene Grocery!

12.22.04...Happy Holidays
The band would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year. 2004 was a great building year for us; our network of booking agents, label contacts, great bands, and general buzz grew a lot this year. We've got so much going on as we head into 2005, especially when you look back on where we were at a year ago, and we owe it all to our faithful fans who show up for every event. Thank you!
-Will

11.14.04...Halloween
Realizing there isnt enough room on stage for an extra member (due to the untimely attempt by a rabid fan at continental to make way onto our stage) we have grown closer and tighter as a band. in the cuddling that followed a couple of warm songs were birthed which we hope to play at our next JC show on the 3rd. we were also inspired to delve into the vault of 2 year songlist and pull out a couple that fell too quietly by the wayside. Forward looking to playing loudly at Uncle Joes.
-love tree.

10.05.04...Baltimore
Even though it beckoned, we skipped out on the Red Light District of Baltimore (and it's no cover 1 drink minimum) this past Saturday for the late night return drive. Thanks to Land Speed Record and Side Bar Tavern for giving us the opportunity to pour out our little hearts in a different area code. The upcoming weeks will find us fine tuning our set and making some 1-5 minute song additions here and there. Catch us at the halloween show on October 30 with Dead People at Continental. On a darker and completely non musical self absorbed note- the playoffs are here and once again the New York Yankees take center stage. I will curb my disappointment for the absence of the ever self destructive Cubs- they dont deserve the energy it would take to be upset. All that is written to write this- there is crying in baseball but it hurts more watching the room empty. keep on rockin' in the free world

9.09.04...Brooklyn
Our Sophomore attempt to shake up the scenesters in BK was a success largely due to the ever so faithful showing of Jen, Jay, Pat and all the rest of our long time supporters. Rumor has it we maybe be featured in a punk rock tribute video to Missy Elliot- can I get a little of that ADIDAS endorsement love Missy? While we were happy to play with the fellas in Divest, my heart fell when I found out they had to leave shortly after leaving stage. Rock and roll does have it's heartbreaks. Thanks to Pee Wee and ICU for having us out to Trash. Another show there is in the works for us. Tomorrow night we will be playing in my back yard- Ben's too- here in Jersey City at Uncle Joe's. I know the river is wide but rewards of new songs, a smoker friendly atmosphere and cold beer is promised to all who make the short hike over. Keep your ears out for 'Fell Soft Spot' and 'four in your belt' these are sure to be tasty additions at our next shows. One last thing, we have a short Q&A interview in the Hudson Current this week. Thanks to Dave and Billy for hooking us up with the press. Speaking of excellent drummers.... check out www.billyatwell.com. Peace out to all you suckas, love Tree.

8.13.04...Humidity brings creativity
We are pleased to report that with the help of the humid space at the music building we have written and finished another new song- for now we will call it 'new song 2' (largely due to the turned over tractor trailer on the highway of my (tree) creativity trail). It's complete with an electrifying intro and strategic stealth pockets. It sucks our next show isn't until Sept. 3 -we are so exited to play this new song (new song 2) out we may have to resort to guerilla tactics- can anyone say setting up in the stinky hallway that connects the path trains to Penn Station? And for the record- while our cd is free at any of our shows, we are always willing to accept tokens of your appreciation and contributions to fuel our fire. Saying that, we prefer beer over whiskey, well at least me, otherwise I forget how much fun we had and end up with hurt elbows and bruised backs. That's it for now folks. Thanks for your continued enthusiasm.

8.10.04...Hank's Saloon
Hank's Saloon has been voted "Tiniest Stage in the World" by members of the band...as well as one of the funnest. People who came out got to see us up close and personal. Miraculously, no one got injured as we flung ourselves around. It was very nice to see so many new faces, and to pass out so many CD's. It just goes to show that the size of the stage doesn't necessarily determine the size of the energy.

8.02.04...Medusa Festival 3 gone, MEANY Festival coming up
First, thanks to everyone who came out to Medusa Festival. We'd like to thank Lourd's for inviting us and putting on such a great night of standing room only energy. Second, those of you who made it to the show are aware of two things: 1) the Outside party harder onstage than any band, even to the point of falling down and hurting ourselves, all for you. 2) We now have our new EP, 'You are the alpha...gracias por nada,' available FREE at all shows, or for $3 if you want us to mail you a copy. 3) we've been picked for this year's NYC MEANY Festival. With a host of sponsors like Guitar World, New York Press, NYRock, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc., we are very happy to be included in this year's event. Again, thanks for the support, and we love you all. The fan support we've been getting lately has been very inspiring, and it only makes us want to push ourselves harder to be worthy.

5.20.04...The Outside picked for Medusa Fest 3!
the Outside has just been selected to appear at New York's Medusa Festival 3 on July 23rd. The Medusa Festival is one of the premier showcases for bands in NYC, especially those with females singers. Keep checking for back for the exact time slot. In any case, tho, you'll want to come early and stay late; these bands rock! Perhaps the coolest part about this is that Lourds, producer and founder of the Medusa Festival, came across our music at a dinner party. Go figure.

4.19.04...New EP mixed
The mixing is done on the new album. Special thanks to Billy Graziadei and Danny Schuler from Undergroundsound studios for their mix mastery, as well the excellent work they did rerecording Tree's vocals. Anybody wanting to get a great studio recording should contact these guys.

3.22.04...Downtime
Downtime rocks! For those of you who made it to the show, we would like to say thank you for being part of a special night. We would also like to thank Contact High for setting everything up. The band has submitted Upper to Epitaph Record's Demolition. Go there and vote for us!

In the next few days, we're gonna be putting up some links to some rough mixes to the new album, so check back soon.

3.10.04...Gracias por nada
We just completed the vocal tracks on the newest release. Tentative title: You Are the Alpha...Gracias por Nada. A little bit of touch-up work, and we'll be ready to mix. Look for an early Spring release...

1.17.04...The Outside: In touch with our feminine side
Thanks to everyone who came out to the last show at Arlene's Grocery. As some of you may have noticed, having a female singer once again got us stuck on "sensitive artistic night." Oh well, at least we got a chance to expose them to some of our flavor before they spit out their imported lite soy beer and bolted for the exits. Guess we shoulda known when the lead singer of the band before us asked Damien to play roadie and fetch her beer. Aaahhh, the rock star life.
-Will

11.04.03...Pianos
Special Thanks to everyone who stepped out to the Piano's show. Be sure not to miss the upcoming Acme Underground show. There won't be too many more shows before we have to take time out to mix our first full length LP...feel free to drop us a line, either by email or bulletin board, to let us know which songs you think should be on the album!

0.06.03...We're still here
Sorry about the dry spell. We keep rollin' along, halfway thru the new album and with new gigs lined up this fall. Keep a lookout for us!

8.07.03
the Outside would like to thank everyone who came out to the Release Party. Easily one of our best shows ever. Meanwhile, we've recently finished tracking drums for the untitled upcoming full-length record. More to come...

6.27.03
The CD release party is booked, we'll be at the good ol' Continental. Special thanks to all those who made it out on the 14th. Pics are on the Photos link.

5.30.03...Blue Collar Overtime
We just picked up "Blue Collar Overtime" from West West Side Music. The EP sounds great. We should have it available for sale in the very near future. To listen to Upper go to the audio section
